I brought Sibella Court’s new book on the weekend (Etc) and spent a lovely few hours flicking through and flagging images. Sibella is a stylist one of the best there is in fact. Having lived in NY for 10 years she recently relocated back home to Australia, opened a store called Society Inc and released a book. What Sibella is fabulous at doing is collecting and then curating her finds into beautiful vignettes in both her store and her home. She creates three-dimensional nooks that are distinctive and beautiful. Even if you don’t particularly adhere to Sibella’s style it’s a fab book to get inspired by. It will make you look at any blank wall and think yikes – dull, dull, dull!
I prefer a slightly more funked up glamorous vibe to my interiors but the fabulous thing is the common thread that runs through the book, the idea that your home shouldn’t be a showroom. It should be relaxed and liveable, it should stimulate the senses and tantalise the mind. A haven that you long to come home to at the end of each day and when you nail it believe me you will never want to leave.
Sibella’s pad when she lived in NY. Every little nook has a narrative to share and although the space is loft like it actually feels snug and cosy.

Haven’t seen Sibella’s book, but seen her NY place in a mag. Her style reminds me of when we were kids and we’d collect all this stuff from nature and do studies etc. Love that bedroom shot though I’d take the shoes out. Those metal ceilings are amazing, and adore the chinese thread that runs through her place.
Have you seen her website Abi? xo
Also love those ceiling tiles its so NY. Haven’t checked out her website but will do so thanks xx
I think I must be the only person who just doesn’t like her aesthetic
i’m currently obsessed w/sibella court (and you!) at the moment. totally admire the way you both take risks and have fun with your decor. have been observing both your aesthetics and have noticed the similarites…embracing the un-perfect, esp. when it comes to bookshelves. i also love how you know exactly what you like!! a woman w/a strong opinion! nothing wishy-washy here. i’m learning so much, thx….-kim
Well thank you – although I must say quite a few people around me wish I was perhaps quite so opinionated
I’ve been meaning to buy a copy of this book for weeks. You have just whetted my appetite all over again. Off to the shops I think!!
I like the bedroom but do not like the top pic – looks messy and am not a fan of those bus route wallhangings…I keep seeing them in Living Etc!! If we are not careful every home in the UK will have a London bus route wall hanging and fake antlers !!
