Updates for Autumn

Late late late with today’s post apologises. Now Fall is here I am on the campaign trail to entice anyone who is thinking of decorating to consider painting your walls gray. If the inky dark down pipe walls of my abode are a little too dark consider something lighter like – da da

This beautiful apartment is in Paris and photographed by Richard Powers. Please note how beautiful it is when ceilings get painted out the same colour as the walls heavenly I say. I become a complete convert when photographing Nikki Tibbles beautiful house for my book her dark fabulous ceilings sent me running home and painting out mine the very next weekend.

This is such a stunning photo. I LOVE the floors and the colour of those sofas. What an amazing space. I think you could fit my whole apartment in that room twice over!

  2. Absolutely beautiful! There is such a warm and moody quality to this space. LOVE.

fabulous apartment! when i told people that i want to paint my apartment gray everybody commented it ‘cold’. to me it’s just so elegant and inviting. just struggling which shades of gray to use.
i am also looking for a dark colour for my bedroom…

Word of advice don’t listen to others – can’t tell you how many people advised me against going grey. Farrow & Ball do some lovely greys as do Zoffany – from the palest summer cloud to the darkest inky grey.

i’m feeling it. such a sense of calm velvety luxury. i want to kick back in there and guzzle champagne from a saucer glass etc etc
we painted our paneled ground floor rooms with a slate grey and in summer it works fantastically creating a sense of drama and intimacy (i think anyway) – but i have to say that at Christmas the traditional London gloom that envelopes our city makes me wonder if we shouldn’t have chosen a slightly lighter shade!
