First up this morning a little brief reminder that our competition running on facebook (for our newly launched eDecorating service – worth a whopping £1000) closes at midday tomorrow. All you need to do is write a comment on FB as to why you would love this service and thats it. Tomorrow I shall sit in my garden with a mint tea under my lilac tree and select a winner.
With the long Easter break nearly upon us some of you may be considering a smidge of DIY (although with the forecast looking fabulous probably not). Either way I wanted to inspire you this morning with a palette of subtle hues. Sophisticated, relaxing, uplifting and way cooler than their whiter counter parts, if crossing over to my dark side is a little too scary then this is the perfect other option.

A beautiful hue, glamourous, versatile and classic. I am not sure where its from but its heavenly. Furnishings, art and accessories look way more interesting when the paint palette crosses over to the slightly darker side.
I adore this grey its powdery, its soft, its super sexy and when coupled withe some shots of colour it just zings.

I love this grey and this may be the colour I would use in my two interconnecting living rooms – I have two large mirrors which used to live in an Italian hotel – on both chimney breasts – and I think my rooms could actually look quite similar to the pix above. What colour grey would you recommend which would match the soft grey shown most exactly?
I have loads of stripped wood in my living rooms, floor, skirting boards, interconnecting hardwood purpose made folding doors, and doors – I may be terribly old fashioned but I actually love wood – whats your take on wood versus painted – opinion please although I think I already know what it is!!!
Hi Heather I am a bit of a painted wood fan not all the time it really depends on the quality of the wood. For example in my Victorian home all the boards were pine and not worthy to varnish and also it so depends on the look you want to achieve. With painted floors and skirtings you get a super sophisticated vibe going on as opposed to a more rustic one so it really does depend on what vibe you are going for. In terms of paint – Farrow and Ball have beautiful hues although at the moment am utterly obsessed with a French paint company http://www.ressource-peintures.com and in particular the colour Lave. Its grey with lilac undertones and beautifully soft. If you google the store Merci in Paris (one of the most beautiful stores on earth) they have painted their bookshop and cafe in it which will give you some idea. Hope that helps. If you want a sample Ressource will send one out just make sure you mention its the exact same colour as used in the Merci store (as Lave as I unfortuantely found out comes in a couple of different hues so its super confusing) x
beautiful images! Happy Easter!
Congratulations Rebecca!
