Handwriting

I have a bit of a thing about text on things. Scrawled across walls, furniture, art I guess because it feels a little bad boy, non conventional and totally rock n roll. The great thing about it is that it instantly updates anything, giving it elevated status, which is exactly the point in this DIY section. Plus it costs next to nothing –even better!

It can be as simple as one line of text or it can cover the wall or piece entirely the choice as they say is yours! There’s something about lettering that feels instantly personal yet whimsical, I’m veering towards going the whole hog as it feels super impactful but its really up to you.

The only thing I would say is that you sort of have to have cool writing in order to pull it off and to make it feel Banksy esq. If you don’t fear not there are tons of vinyl decals out there that will do the trick.

  1. Reblogged this on Plus Black blog and commented:
Some stylish living for you today in a reblog from Abigail Ahern as I too love to see handwritten words, notes, poems scrawled across pretty much everything in my life … quoting from Langston Hughes:

    Hold fast to dreams
    For if dreams dies
    Life is a broken-winged bird
    That cannot fly

    Salut, Elle

  2. I love to design using handwriting too. I use it on various projects including digital posters, scrapbook and many others. I am glad that there are various handwriting fonts I can download for free since my own handwriting is not something I am very proud of. 😀

  3. i like this ideas aswell, but i’m kinda affraid i’ll make it look like s*it, because my handwriting is really all that badass:P would be cool to “paint” the entire wall with it and then put a blank white paper in a picture frame in the middle:P
